Can I have my alarm system dial out wireless through my cell phone carrier?
I have a typical (but non-ADT) alarm system that dials out through the phone line. I am happy with my alarm company’s monitoring and pricing–roughly $24/mo–but want to drop my land line phone since I have T-Mobile service cellular service. My alarm company quoted me about $350 in equipment and an ADDITIONAL $10/mo monitoring to go to cellular backup.
I’d like alarm to be able to dial out wireless if needed for phone cost savings as well as the added security. I’m not sure why they charge extra for the monitoring since I’ll be buying it outright. Is there a module that can be bought that can use one’s cell phone service? (I don’t want a VoIP product because if they cut my cable line I’m screwed)

Yes, is this what you’re looking for (link):

Ok I just read more and they charge about $9 a month plus the set & equipment one time fees.
Not what you’re looking for but I’m sure you can accomplish this without their additional equipment & charges. Just have to find a source.
